LET'S TALK DRAINAGE
Who will shout from the mountain top and declare that it is not rocket science to have a very clean drainage system in Kenya?
Who will tell the government both at County and National level that we have all it takes to have a clean environment?
We all know how the drainage systems in our country gets especially during the rainy season.
Surprisingly, this environmental menace is the cheapest and the easiest to solve. Other cities across the globe have done it so it is doable.
In the comment section below, I would like to know which of the following things are not accessible in our country:
1. Drainage pipes
2. Strong nets
3. Garbage trucks
4. Waste segregation techniques
5. The capacity
Let's take a quick look at what has been going on in the city Kwinana in Australia.
In the summer of 2018, the relevant authorities installed a filtration system in the Henley Reserve. This system consisted of a net placed on the outlet of a drainage pipe in order to catch debris and keep the run off water from contamination.Once the nets are full of garbage, they are lifted by a trash truck and taken to a site where the the waste is segregated, the recyclable from the non-recyclable. The nets are then cleaned and put back and the process repeats.
One personal question for a us all to take home; Is Mother Nature a joke to you?
